Do you Desire Happiness or Joy?
Proverbs 17:22 (NKJV)
“A merry heart does good, like medicine…” – Proverbs 17:22a (NKJV)
In the present state of the world, many find it difficult to live healthy lives. The lack of essential commodities needed for health and wellness evades them. The word ‘merry’ as recorded in, dictionary.com means ‘uninhibited joy’. This is the kind of joy released by God’s GRACE and FREEDOM flowing out of His FORGIVENESS’. As children of God, we have His grace that is sufficient, His freedom that was purchased by the precious blood of Jesus, and perpetual forgiveness as a result of His son’s obedience.
As Kingdom citizens, we need to remember the words in Romans 14:17 “for the Kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” – (NKJV). The Holy Spirit Who drew us to God offers the ‘fruit of the Spirit’ – Galatians 5: 22-23, and Joy is a part of this gift. We must take note that throughout the Word of God, joy and not happiness is offered. Happiness is temporal. It has its genesis in things. Joy is everlasting; that is, we can experience it on earth as well as in eternity.
There is an undeniable connection between emotional health and physical health – 3 John 2. Experiencing illness is not erased from our lives, but a cheerful heart can lead to a speedy recovery. The Word of God is filled with promises that speak to our daily lives and our eternal life. We can choose to rejoice in the Lord as we remember His faithfulness, power, truth, provision, protection, and healing. Psalm 103:1-4 reminds us of the benefits that we have while serving Him, while Psalm 19:7-11 tells of the benefits of righteousness in obeying our Manual for Living – The Holy Bible. There is great reward in keeping them.
Beloved, for daily health and wellness visit Dr Jesus. He never fails.
